Officials with the Maritime Breeders Association have announced that there will be a change in purse distribution for two-year-old colts and fillies for 2016.
The purses for the eliminations will be increased to $5,000 from the present $3,000 on a trial basis.
A study is being conducted to ascertain whether both the three-year-old and two-year-old eliminations can be increased in future years. The main concern is that with the potential reduction in entries that the purses for the finals would be too far reduced compared to historic levels.
