Jim Laverty Passes

Longtime standardbred owner Jim Laverty of Sauble Beach, Ont. passed away on Wednesday, April 5

in his 74th year.

For years Laverty was involved in harness racing, first owning horses with Bud Fritz and more recently with the Henry family. In 2010, Laverty owned part of multiple Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winning trotting filly Extraordinaire.

Survived by wife Kaye, son Grant (Laura Lee), daughter Julie (Shawn Irvin) and grandchildren Natasha, Clayton, and Leeatte.

There will be a celebration of Jim's life on Sunday, April 10 Hepworth Legion in Hepworth, Ont. from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. with arrangements handled by Thomas Whitcroft Funeral Home of Sauble Beach.

Donations can be made to the Community Care Access Centre (Owen Sound), the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Grey Bruce Health Centre (Wiarton Branch).
