Trot Insider has learned Shirley Williams passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1 with her family by her side.
Shirley, a former Standardbred Canada member who watched the races almost every night, will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters, Merridy (Joe), Andrea, Lynn (Paul MacDonell) and Sandra (Mike Smith), her fourteen grandchildren: Brenda (Brooks), Steven, Nancy, Laurie, Kienan, Lydia, Caitlin, Jenna (James), Shelby, Lauren, Mathew (Justine), Danielle (Brandon), Michael, Brooke and four great grandchildren. She will be missed by her sister Barbara (the late Douglas Gamsby), aunt Anna and uncle Don Wilcox, sister in law Jean Vanstone, and her many friends. She is predeceased by her parents Peter and Rena Bathgate.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Golden Plough Lodge in Cobourg, with special thanks to the team in MacMillan Garden Unit.
Friends may join her celebration of life at Orono United Church. Memorial visitation will be at the church on Tuesday April 4th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the service following immediately. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Bethesda Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Orono United Church.
