Hiawatha Set For Its 2011 Season

Hiawatha Horse Park is back in action this Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. with its first card of the season

. Qualifiers will take place at 4 p.m., but please note there will be no schooling races offered opening night.

It will be the first of 47 cards of racing this season with live harness racing every Thursday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. until October 13. The first Loonie/Twoonie night will be Saturday, May 7 and that promotion will be featured on the first Saturday of the month thereafter until the final one in October.

Draw dates will be as follows:

Mondays from 9-11 a.m. for Thursdays
Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. for Saturdays

Driver changes will be due one day following each of the draw dates before 10 a.m.

Hiawatha Horse Park will feature a quartet of OSS events this year and will feature its Slots Cup for $100,000 on Saturday, September 3. Hiawatha was designated a Grass Roots track for the 2011 season, but its cap of $50,000 in purses per night was increased to $60,000.
