Today former horseman Orval Sleeth is celebrating his 90th birthday. He is still quite active, but is legally blind. Although his vision isn't the best, he wants your calls and emails wishing him a happy birthday
.
Sleeth, who was born on April 26, 1920 in Estevan Saskatchewan, came to eastern Ontario with a boxcar full of horses in May of 1939. He has been in the standardbred business most of his life, as he bred and raised horses in addition to training and driving.
Sleeth had a stable of 18 at the old Frontenac Downs in Kingston. In 1974, he moved near Windsor, Ontario where he has lived ever since.

Yesterday's first race at Windsor Raceway was dedicated to Orval, and once more he stood in the winner's circle.
This year, Rick Zeron, John Campbell and other drivers have sent their good wishes along to Orval, as have others.
