Standardbred Canada (SC) has announced Ms. Sophie Mongeon of Montreal, Que. will serve on its Board of Directors as Quebec Region Track Director for the remainder of the 2023-2025 term, effective immediately.
Ms. Mongeon was appointed to the Board after the recent resignation of Mr. François-Patrick Allard, as the Track Director for the Quebec Region. The position was ratified by the Board on Thursday, April 18, 2024. SC would like to thank Mr. Allard for his time served.
The President of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Jockey Club, Ms. Mongeon has deep ties to the horse racing industry. Her father was a respected veterinarian in the equine world and her mother is the sister of the illustrious Filion siblings.
Ms. Mongeon is the owner of Desroches Mongeon Avocats, a legal firm that specializes in representing victims and injured parties with organizations, employers and private companies. For the past three years, Ms. Mongeon has been recognized as one of the best lawyers in the representation of injured workers.

Ms. Mongeon’s first Board of Directors meeting will take place on Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3, 2024.

Directeur Hippodrome du Québec - Nouvellement nommé au conseil de SC
Standardbred Canada souhaite annoncer que Mme Sophie Mongeon de Montréal, QC, siégera à son conseil de la direction en tant que Directrice d’hippodrome pour la région du Québec pour le reste du mandat 2023-2025, avec effet immédiat.
Mongeon a été nommé au conseil de la direction suivant la récente démission de M. François-Patrick Allard en tant que Directeur d’hippodrome pour la région du Québec. La nomination a été ratifiée par le conseil de direction jeudi le 18 avril 2024. SC aimerait remercier M. Allard pour sa contribution au conseil.
Mme Mongeon est la présidente du conseil d'administration du Club Jockey du Québec et a des liens étroits avec l'industrie des courses de chevaux. Son père étant un vétérinaire respecté dans le monde équin et sa mère étant la sœur illustre des frères et sœurs Filion.
Mme Mongeon est propriétaire de Desroches Mongeon Avocats, spécialisé dans la représentation des victimes et des parties accidentées auprès d'organisations, d'employeurs et de sociétés privées. Au cours des trois dernières années, Mme Mongeon a été reconnue comme l'une des meilleures avocates dans la représentation des travailleurs accidentés.
