Spring has finally arrived in the northeastern United States and brought with it the highly anticipated influx of sophomores preparing for stakes season.
The Meadowlands Racetrack’s Saturday night card reflects both the seasonal and content evolution with temperatures forecast to be in the 70s and four of the 13 races restricted to three-year-olds.
A brand new offering is the ‘Spring Preview,’ a two-week series for green three-year-olds to be used as a launching pad for the fast approaching stakes season. Though only the ‘Non Winners of 1’ pacing colts attracted enough entries to split, several others were served with a single division and will give fans and horseplayers alike some new faces to consider.
The Whata Baron Series will begin on Saturday. A pair of $22,500 divisions will head postward. The $55,000 final on will be raced on Derby Day.
First-race post time Saturday at the Meadowlands is 7:15 p.m.
