A new online harness racing show focusing on North American racing is set to debut this weekend.
Harnesslink will present a new online harness racing show, Harness News Live. Host Trey Colbeck will discuss and analyze significant events in the harness racing world with Nicholas "Ace" Barnsdale behind the scenes as a producer.
The show will focus on harness racing in Canada and the United States, hoping to grow the love of the sport. Although the news will be the show's main plot, Colbeck, Barnsdale, and future guests will also provide betting tips and handicapping.
Colbeck has been writing for Harnesslink for several months and was the Summer Student in the Communications Dept. at Standardbred Canada over the 2021 and 2022 summers. He also co-hosts the Canadian Football Countdown, which discusses current events surrounding the Canadian Football League. Colbeck is finishing his degree at the University of Winnipeg in Communication and Rhetoric and is looking to dive right into harness racing media headfirst.
Barnsdale has been part of the Harnesslink team since February 2021, and he is a Bachelor of Journalism graduate from Humber College. He has been writing about harness racing for over five years and will lend his expertise to the behind-the-scenes production of the show. Barnsdale's main job will be ensuring the show runs smoothly, but his voice will likely be heard occasionally.
Both Colbeck and Barnsdale are proud members of the United States Harness Writers Association Canada Chapter and have been lifelong fans of the sport.
The first episode is scheduled for 10 a.m. EDT, Saturday, April 15, 2023. The following shows will air Wednesdays at 2 p.m. EDT and Saturdays at 11 a.m. EDT. Harness News Live can be found on Harnesslink's YouTube, Twitter and Facebook accounts. The show will allow viewers to make live comments during the show and hopefully will spark passionate debate among the show's crew and fans.
