Truro Raceway has received approval by the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission for an adjustment to its 2023 race date schedule.
The race date originally scheduled for Sunday, May 28 has been moved to Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. due to the grandstand renovations.
By postponing this race date, Truro will have time following its scheduled race date on Sunday, May 21 to transition all the technical requirements to run the racetrack over to the grandstand, which will require approximately 10 days.
Truro Raceway General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons has reported that the bottom of the grandstand, which includes the betting area and washrooms, is expected be open to the public for racing on Sunday, June 4 when the track will host the Nova Scotia vs. Ontario Drivers Challenge.
“Things are progressing and we’re hopeful of grandstand access very soon and have June 4th as our target date to have it open to the public in some form,” said Fitzsimmons.
