The Shiaway St Pat Series is set to resume this Friday night (April 13) at the Meadowlands Racetrack with an overflow field of 11 scheduled to head behind the starting gate in a single $17,500 division.
Elysium Lindy (Post 1, Andy McCarthy) will be the sole returning winner this week, as the victor from the other opening-leg division, Deep Impact, was not entered for Friday’s tilt. Elysium Lindy led at every call during last week's first leg and was a measured winner at a generous $24.60 mutuel, which was a very large payoff considering that he is a Burke pupil. Elysium Lindy has been installed as the 3-1 morning line choice for Friday's contest. He is owned by the partnership of Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi Stable and Joe Di Scala.
Trainer Julie Miller will send out a pair of serious contenders in the ultra-consistent Opulent Yankee (PP4, Jim Marohn Jr.) and the returning Sutton (PP7, Andy Miller).
The $52,500 final of the Shiaway Pat will take place next week.
The Meadowlands’ big wagering news remains to be the carryover in the track’s last-race Super Jackpot Hi-5, which has inflated to $184,242.
Post time for the ten-race card is 7:15 p.m.
