Organizers with the Ontario Standardbred Show Series have announced that this year’s series for standardbreds will contain four shows. Participants must show in three shows in order to accumulate points for year-end awards.

All of the four shows will be under the Standardbred Showcase umbrella, but will be operating as individual shows with the points counting for year-end awards.

The first show in the series will be 'Standardrama.' It will be held again this year at the Orono Fairgrounds on June 19, 2011. For more information, surf to standardrama.com. The show organizers are Sarah Hertle and Tammi Hughes.

Oxer Stables will be hosting its show at the Ancaster Fairgrounds on July 17, 2011. For more information, surf to oxerstables.com. The show organizer is Janet Zizian

Standardbred Showcase will be held at the Grand River Raceway on Sunday July 31, 2011. For more information, visit standardbredshowcase.com. The show organizer for the event will be a team of Standardbred Showcase members.

The South Western Ontario Standardbred Horse Show will be presenting its show at the Railside Equestrian Centre in Dutton, Ont. on Sunday, September 11. The show organizer will be Jennifer Graham. For more information, surf to swostandardbred.ca.

One more show may become involved for year-end awards, and an announcement will be made if this becomes possible.

All the above shows will be run under the same rules which will be available on each website. Helmets will be required in all games classes and obstacle driving. Any person 18 and under will be required to wear a helmet and proper footwear while mounted anywhere on the grounds.

Please remember to get your liability insurance, as you will need this to show. OSSS recommends the Ontario Equestrian Federation (horse.on.ca) for the best rates.

The OSSS looks forward to another successful year in the promotion of standardbreds as a viable riding/pleasure driving mount. Standardbred Showcase is a registered non-profit organization operated solely by volunteers.
