Outlawpositivcharg won his third consecutive horse of the year title Saturday night at the 2010 Prince County Horsemen’s Club Awards Banquet at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway
.
There was a crowd of 240 on hand to see Outlawpositivcharg, a son of Blissfull Hall-Electromagnetic, secure the title for owner Fred Lamont. In 2010, he had seven wins in 21 starts, while taking a mark of 1:55 at North Sydney and banking $23,492.
Dale Sobey won the Joe O’Brien memorial award for horsemanship. Sobey is the only recipient of the award who actually worked for the legendary O’Brien, as he had travelled to California to work on his Shafter farm in the 1960s. Lifetime, Sobey has 772 driving wins and 377 victories as a trainer.
Horsewoman of the year was conditioner Ashley Gamester. In 2010, she sent 70 starters to the gate with 10 victories, $34,147 in purse money, and a .276 training average. Her standouts included Governor’s Plate finalist Outlawpositivcharg and stakes winner Howdidchado.
Thane Mann was horseman of the year, while Paul Biggar received the Standardbred Canada Owner of the year award.
