It is with heavy hearts that the family of Standardbred racehorse owner Lord Stephen ‘Sonny’ Haddon announces his passing at the age of 93.

Haddon passed away on October 6, 2019 at the village of Riverside Glen in Guelph, Ont. His passing has left a huge void in the family’s lives.

Sonny was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean (2017), his son Steve Jr. (2011), and his grandsons Joshua (2016), and Jay (2018).

He was the dear father of Julia, Jim (Robin), and Denise (Gord). Sonny was the much-loved grandfather of Stephen ‘Hendo’ (Chantal), Amanda (Tyrone), Jessica (Paul), and Kathleen. Sonny was the Grandfather in Law of Jenny and Great Grandfather of Juliette, Jackson, Abby, and Blake. Sonny is survived by his brother Stewart (Glenda), and sister Primrose.

In 1966, Sonny bought a farm (Hopping Hill) on Guelph Line, just north of Mohawk Raceway, where he started his 'baby carrot' business and dabbled in the Standardbred industry.

A memorial will be held from 1-5 p.m. this Saturday (March 14) at the Royal Canadian
Legion, located at 21 Charles St. in Milton, Ont.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Sonny Haddon.
