Horse owners from across Atlantic Canada will be gathering Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19 at Red Shores Charlottetown and the Charlottetown Civic Centre for the second annual Prince Edward Island Horse

Symposium.

Leading harness racing trainer George Teague, Jr. will be the keynote speaker on the Friday evening, following a panel discussion on Equine Success Stories which will bring together national and international competitors from various equine disciplines.

“We are very grateful that Mr. Teague has taken time from his busy stable to serve as our keynote speaker,” stated PEI Standardbred Horseowners Chair Tom Clark. “He is renowned for his skills in selecting and developing equine athletes, and we are thrilled that he will be with us for the weekend.”

Sponsored by the PEI Harness Racing Industry Association, Island Horse Council, PEI Draft Horse Association, and the PEI Department of Agriculture, this unique event offers horse owners of all breeds an opportunity to learn from some of the industries leading owners, trainers and veterinarians, view live demonstrations, and visit an expanded trade show area.

Complete event details and agendas are available at peiharnessracing.com and at peifarm.ca. Information brochures are also available at local equine businesses.

As an additional feature of the 2011 event, the PEI Standardbred Horse Owners Association will be holding its annual Awards Banquet during the evening of Saturday, March 19 at the same location.
