Meadows To Go Dark

Live racing at the Meadows will be suspended from Wednesday, April 1, through Tuesday, April 14

to allow for completion of the track’s permanent casino.

During that two-week dark period, on-site simulcast racing also will be suspended. Patrons are invited to attend any of the track’s four off-track facilities, where simulcasting will continue without interruption.

Since racino construction commenced in fall 2007, Cannery Casino Resorts, which owns and operates the Meadows Racetrack & Casino, has conducted live and simulcast racing from temporary facilities. David Wiegmann, acting general manager for the Meadows, said the track is looking forward to again offering patrons a full range of amenities to complement exciting live racing.

“Our customers and our horsemen have been wonderfully supportive during the development of our permanent facilities,” he said. “We are delighted to be able to offer them expanded dining and entertainment options in a world-class environment.”

The permanent casino is set to open Wednesday, April 15, pending successful completion of testing two days earlier. Live racing also will resume April 15 with first post at 12:15 p.m.

The Meadows will offer live racing Monday through Friday, first race post time 12:15 p.m., through the end of April. Thereafter, the track will race on a Monday-through-Thursday schedule. Beginning Monday, June 1, first post will shift to 6:00 p.m.
