After Landia pulled off a 41-1 upset in the 13th race at The Meadowlands on Friday, March 28, no one held a winning 20-cent Pick-6 ticket, so fans of the bet that’s offered on races eight through 13 will be shooting for a carryover of $5,029 on Saturday night, March 29.
The winners' odds for the sequence weren’t completely outrageous as the first five legs were taken by horses who went off at 4-1, 12-1, 5-2, 3-1 and 11-1, but heading into the payoff leg, the only horse covered in the Pick-6 was 3-5 favourite Hoofbeats De Vie, who finished a fast-closing second.

One of the better inexpensive claimers at The Meadowlands raced in Friday’s seventh race and the scorching-hot Ill Hunt You Down (pictured above) picked up his fourth straight win racing at the $10,714 claiming level for pacers.
The five-year-old gelded son of Huntsville-Crazy On You, who is trained by Michael Posner, was away third around the first turn before darting up to grab the lead at the half, then powered clear of his overmatched foes through the stretch on the way to a 4-3/4-length romp in a lifetime-best equalling 1:52.1. Itzalldowntoluck N was second with Albert A Scootin third.
“He left out of there pretty good,” said winning driver Johnathan Ahle. “He can really do it either way, so I wasn’t too worried about where we got away. I moved him to the front after the fast first quarter [of :27] and from then on it was race over.”
Ill Hunt You Down, who returned $3.20 as the 3-5 favourite, now has nine wins from just 15 lifetime starts. In his next outing, he will seek his fifth victory in a row, which would be the longest streak this year by any horse at the mile oval.
“He’s been ultra consistent and he’s racing in a class he can really excel in,” said Ahle. “It’s all worked out very well.”
It was a big night for Ahle, who finished atop the driver colony with four victories. Tom Fanning led the trainers with a pair of jaunts down victory lane.
All-source betting on the 14-race card totalled $2,691,345 USD.
Racing resumes on Saturday at 6:20 p.m.
