
Former Standardbred owner George Edward Foreman Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in Houston, Texas on March 21, 2025, at the age of 76.
"A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose," said a statement from Foreman's family posted on his social media accounts. "A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two-time heavyweight champion of the world, he was deeply respected -- a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name -- for his family."
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as they honour the extraordinary life of George Foreman.
Known globally for his prowess in the boxing ring and his eponymous indoor grill, Foreman made the foray into harness racing in the late 2000s. His best horse was stakes winner Future Destiny, a career winner of $251,116 owned in partnership with trainer George Teague and former pro footballer Wayne Chrebet.
