Leslie 'Les' Bell Passes

Longtime harness racing industry participant Leslie George 'Les' Bell of Calgary, Alta. passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the age of 80.

Originally from St. Boniface, Man., Bell owned racehorses for decades starting in the early 1990s with Bunny Scout. Some of his horses still competing on Canada's west coast include Big Time Sunrise and Perapps Knot Yett.

Les is survived by his partner Judi La Londe, his two daughters Debbie (Bob) Stouten, and Shannon (Doug Lemeshuk) Bell; five grandchildren Amanda (Steven), Bradley, Shannon, Logan, Mackenzie; two great-grandchildren Hanna, and Liam; brother Dan (Sharon) Bell; brothers-in-law Jack (Diane) Bell, and Don Hoffman; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Les was predeceased by his wife Donna Bell; parents Norman and Jennet Bell; and sister-in-law Nancy Thiesson.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Home (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. In living memory of Les, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes.
