Hanover Shoe Farms has announced the appointment of Mark Loewe as vice president, marking another advance in the long history of the farm. Loewe brings over 40 years of racing knowledge and experience to the organization.

Growing up in New York, Loewe spent over 15 years on the backstretch as a successful trainer.

Moving on to the administrative side of the business did not stop him from developing his yearling inspection skills during more than 30 years.

On the administrative side, Loewe worked as a simulcast director, race secretary, director of operations and general manager at multiple tracks starting with Pompano Park, under John Cashman’s tutelage. His career took him to Iowa then back to Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio. His last 12 years were with the Penn National Gaming Company.

Loewe retired from Penn National at the end of 2020. After some recent conversations with Hanover Shoe Farms President Russell Williams, Loewe decided to come out of retirement.

“Retirement was great, but having the opportunity to work for Hanover Shoe Farms, the greatest name in harness racing, was too hard to pass up,” said Loewe. “I look forward to working with all the great clients and staff who have supported Hanover over the years and I hope to develop new clients to support Hanover well beyond its centenary in 2026.”

“Mark has been part of the yearling inspection team for the Harrisburg sale for several years, and as Vice Chair of the U.S. Trotting Association Mark has successfully executed several major projects of great importance to harness racing,” said Williams. “I’ve been hoping to bring him on board for a long time. We look forward to providing unmatched client service at Hanover Shoe Farms.”
