The first ever winner of the innovative 10 cent MEGA-9 wager offered only by The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park has been traced to Maryland
. For a dime investment on the Tuesday, March 20 program the single succesful ticket returned $12,092.
According to Pompano's Director Of Racing Operations John Yinger and Mutuels Manager Joe McTommoney, the winning ticket was purchased at Rosecroft Raceway. Since the inception of the wager at Pompano on November 26, 2011, there had not previously been a situation where there was a unique winning ticket until Tuesday evening.
Pompano's 10 cent MEGA-9 wager started fresh on the Wednesday, March 21 program with a $2,500 guaranteed minimum payout in the event of a single winning ticket. On nights when there is not a unique winning ticket, 60 per cent of the pool is paid to those selecting the most winners and 40 per cent carries over to the building jackpot pool. A mandatory final payout of the MEGA-9 is planned for Saturday, May 5 following that day's presentation of the Kentucky Derby simulcast.
