Trot Insider has learned that equine dental technician Don Popp passed away at the Freeport Hospital on Sunday, March 17 at the age of 78.

Don applied his trade across Ontario since 1988.

He was predeceased by his mother Alma Buder, and his eldest son William (Bill) Popp.

Don was married to the love of his life, his beloved wife Sandra (Mathers). He was dear father of Paula (Sid) Zahra , Gord (Donna) Popp, Barb (Gary) Wagner, Miriam (Lloyd) Mercer, Karla Popp, Stephen (Sharon) Popp, Jake (Michelle) Popp. Tracy (Steve) Campbell, Tim (Laurie) Dillon and Terry Dillon.

He will be lovingly remembered as Grandpa to his 32 grandchildren, his 10 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and Donny to his lifelong best friend Ken (Betty) Skinner.

Don was one of six children born in Pembroke, Ontario, predeceased by his brother Ken (Roseann), brother to Dorian, Billy (Norma), Carl (June) and Debbie Buder.

Don’s family received relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 20 at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S., Waterloo. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, March 21 at 11 a.m.
