Reminder: Send In NY Mare Residency Forms

Published: March 2, 2011 10:13 am EST

The New York Sire Stakes is reminding breeders that wish to be eligible for the Resident Mare Bonus Award to submit the Residency Declaration / Arrival Form to the Agriculture & NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund in Albany

.

To be eligible for the residency award your mare must be bred to a New York-registered stallion and be in New York State for 180 consecutive days in this breeding calendar year.

Even if your mare is a permanent resident of New York State, you must submit the Residency Declaration / Arrival Form to report the beginning date of the residency period.

Once your mare has completed the 180-day residency period after having been bred to a NYSS stallion, you must also submit the Mare Departure / 180 Day Declaration of Residency Form. Even if your mare is a permanent resident of New York State, this form must be submitted since it is your certification to the fund that the mare did indeed reside in New York for the 180-day period.

If you need forms, you may download copies from the NYSS website, nysirestakes.com, and go to the 'Forms and Downloads' page. You may also request additional forms be mailed to you by calling the fund at 518-436-8713, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or by emailing [email protected].
