James ‘Jimmie’ Hofler Sr. Passes

James Myron ‘Jimmie’ Hofler Sr., 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, in his home in Sunbury, NC.

Hofler was born in Gates County on June 22, 1936, and was the son of the late H. Sidney and Thelma Riddick Hofler. He, with his father and brother, the late Bernard S. Hofler, were the owners and operators of H.S. Hofler & Sons Lumber Company, where he retired as its president.

He was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, for many years had served on its Building and Grounds Committee, had served in the United States Army, and had a life-long love of horses and enjoyed membership in the US Trotting Association.

Surviving are his wife of over 52 years, Joy Hollowell Hofler; his son, James Myron Hofler Jr. (Tracy); his sister, Ann Hofler Milam; and her husband Bruce; his sister-in-law, Marjorie S. Hofler; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Hofler Bass and husband Chris, and James Austin Hofler.

Services were held in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery, Sunbury.
