Fred Sykes, of Brantford, Ont., passed Sunday (March 14) at the age of 83.
Sykes, a longtime Standardbred owner since the 1970s, also worked as a mutuel teller for Woodbine Entertainment and served as a past president of Mutuels SEIU Local 528.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Wendy (Larry Small), Patricia (Johnny) and Sharrie (Gary); 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, in Brantford, Ont., on Wednesday (March 17) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel Thursday (March 18) at 12 noon.
