Applications Sought For 'Youth' Movement

The U.S. Trotting Association and the Harness Horse Youth Foundation have now opened the application process for members of the Youth Leadership Development Subcommittee, which was created with the purpose of bringing a youth perspective to the USTA board, as well as provide marketing and social media opportunities for harness racing events.

If selected for service on the subcommittee, delegates will be involved in projects with USTA staff and directors to improve the youth experience in harness racing and promote harness racing to a younger audience. Delegates will benefit from possible academic credit, opportunities for published work and leadership training.

Applicants must be between the ages of 16-20 and must be or become a USTA member or USTA youth member. One delegate will be selected for each USTA district. Districts are listed at www.ustrotting.com/directors.cfm. The term of service for those selected will be two years.

Written applications are due May 1 and must include a statement of recommendation from an industry participant. The online application can be found at http://members.ustrotting.com/youth.cfm.
