A notice from Cal Expo issued on Friday (March 13) indicated that the track will conduct live harness racing this weekend but is restricting access to the facility.
"There will be harness racing Friday and Saturday night at Cal Expo with only essential employees and licensees allowed, and everyone will enter through Gate 12," the track said in its statement.
Cal Expo joins Dover Downs, Freehold Raceway, Meadowlands Racetrack, The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono and Yonkers Raceway as U.S. harness racing tracks that have recently changed access policies amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, Dover Downs, Freehold Raceway, The Meadowlands, The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono and Yonkers Raceway have abandoned their races for the balance of the week. Trot Insider will provide updates as they are made available.
