Nominations for the James K. Hackett Memorial late closers for Ohio-sired three-year-olds are due by this Thursday (March 15).
In addition to the traditional annual divisions for colt and filly pacers, the 2018 edition of the ‘Hacketts’ will include trotting divisions, separated by sex as well.
Elimination heats, each for a $15,000 purse, will be contested from April 9 to April 14 depending on the gait and sex. The four $40,000 championship finals will go postward between April 16 and April 21.
In addition to the opportunity to race for a $40,000 purse in a Hackett final, the top three finishers will get automatic invitations to four special Scarlet and Gray Invitationals – for Buckeye-bred sophomores – racing for $50,000 purses on April 27 and 28.
