Florida’s premier Standardbred trotting sire, Famously, has passed away at the age of 24, according to Christine Garrity of Amante Standardbreds.
A stakes winner of $150,893 on the racetrack to go along with his mark of 1:55.1, Famously was a son of Royal Prestige. His heritage traced back through the great Speedy Crown and Speedy Scot.
Famously began his stallion career in 2002 and his sons and daughters enriched many owners as stakes winners and bonus winners through the lucrative FSBOA breeding program.
Among his credits are Famous Mark, 1:53.2 ($543,784); Lugar, 1:54.3 ($234,991); Jeanie Marie, 1:56.3 ($204,668) and countless others that impacted the stakes program at Pompano Park. His prodigy has earned well in excess of $3 million.
Ms. Garrity, in paying homage to the Amante Standardbred premier stallion, related, “You know, as a small child, my favourite books were the great series by Walter Farley entitled ‘The Black Stallion.’ Well, I considered Famously my black stallion. He was the pride of our farm – the mascot of our farm.”
Famously will be laid to rest in the paddock in which he resided since 2002.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Famously.
