Pierre Rochette of La Malbaie, Quebec is the photographer for the March image in Standardbred Canada’s Heart of Harness Racing Calendar.
The photo captures Stephane Brosseau and Stonebridge Alert out on the track at Hippodrome de la Vallée in Saint-Aimé-Des Lacs, QC.
Rochette photographs harness racing as a press photographer for the newspaper in the Charlevoix region. He is a self-taught photographer and has been taking photos of horse racing for over three decades, and has been the photographer at Hippodrome de la Vallée for the past 25 years.
“I love to go take pictures at l’Hippodrome de la Vallée,” Rochette confessed. “Because of the challenge of the races I always try to shoot THE big picture and I love the ambiance and meeting a lot of new people.”
Rochette has been a long-time contributor to the Heart of Harness Racing calendar providing striking images from the Quebec Region and Hippodrome de la Vallée, and has had his photos published in the calendar on four previous occasions: 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019.
Pierre believes himself to be quite fortunate, as his work is also his passion. When he’s off the clock, he continues to do what he loves: photography.
