Horse Racing Alberta (HRA) wishes to advise all racing participants that the Learning Centre located at Northlands Park will close permanently on March 15, 2017.
In consultation and advice from industry partners, the needs of racing participants and the Learning Centre services do not have the same value or importance as in past years.
Further to that discussion with industry partners, backstretch services require modernization to meet the needs of current and future backstretch personnel. The position of Backstretch Manager is terminated as of March 31, 2017. Conversations with all industry partners will occur over the next weeks and perhaps months to determine services required and how they will be delivered and by whom.
Owners and trainers will assume the responsibility for their employees needs and when HRA's Backstretch Coordinator can or should assist, that will occur.
