Trot Insider has learned that Bruce Norris passed suddenly at the Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest on Sunday (Feb. 6) in his 82nd year.
He was the loving father of Deb Hewson (Jim), Cathy Morris, and Dianne Ruff (Brent); a dear grandfather of Tara (Paul), Robyn (Dan), Jason (Sophie), Jayme, Matt, Amanda (Corey), Nicole (Colin), and Cody (Melissa); and great-grandfather of Madden, Kayten, Thomas, Ariana, Ryan, Avaree and Brayden. Norris is survived by his sisters Eilene Langridge (Thompson) and Lorna Core (Bill). He will be missed by his friend Sue Kostal as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Remembered by the mother of his children, Joyce Norris.
Bruce was the Chief Bylaw Officer for the Town of Caledon for over 35 years and also farmed in Albion Township (now the Township of Caledon). He had a passion for racehorses and was involved with Standardbred racing for over 40 years. Bruce never went anywhere without a comb; he always looked his best which earned him the nickname “Pretty Boy”.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at the Albion Bolton Community Centre, 150 Queen Street South, Bolton on Saturday, February 12, 2022. The family will welcome friends between 12:00-3:00 p.m. and extended family between 3:30-6:00 p.m. Proof of full vaccination and identification is required and masks are mandatory. Covid protocols will be in place. Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell or are a close contact of a presumed or positive case.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the SickKids Foundation or the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Bruce Norris.
