Three $32,000 Opens/Opens Handicaps comprise just some of the racing action that will be on display at Yonkers Raceway this weekend.
Friday night’s weekly ladies’ pacing feature (Race 6) shows up as a blind-draw event, with Regil Elektra (to be driven by Jason Bartlett) having won the draw. The six-year-old daughter of Mach Three was compromised by a poor getaway a week ago. Regil Elektra is 2-for-4 to start her season. Inittowinafortune (Jordan Stratton, Post 7) was a solid second from this same starting locale a week ago.
Friday’s Pick 5 will begin with a carryover of $2,163.39 (50-cent base wager, Races 7 through 11).
Saturday night’s Open Handicap Trot (Race 6) finds last week’s first three finishers back at it, with Somebody AS (Jordan Stratton, PP7), Crazshana (Jason Bartlett, PP4) and Red Hot Herbie (Brian Sears, PP5). Somebody AS tripped out from the pocket, while ‘Shana’ was very sharp racing with fresh Lasix.
Not Afraid (Dan Dube, PP6) tried and eight-hole leave a week ago, but too many others had the same game plan.
The week’s marquee pace (Race 7) is led by last week’s winner, Phil Your Boots (Tyler Buter, PP7) and runner up, Melmerby Beach (Jason Bartlett, PP6). Polak A (Brian Sears, PP4) has earned a seat at the ‘adult table’ after a pair of solid conditioned victories.
First-race post time for both programs is 7:10 p.m.
