The initial payment deadline for eligibility to more than 161 stakes events at 13 different tracks, headlined by the 100th Anniversary of the Hambletonian at The Meadowlands on Aug. 2 and the $7 million USD Breeders Crown events at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Oct. 24 and 25, is fast approaching.
Payments for all Hambletonian Society-serviced stakes are due on Saturday, Feb. 15 and must be postmarked by midnight on Tuesday, Feb. 18 due to a weekend and a United States federal holiday (Presidents Day), per United States Trotting Association Rule 12.02.
What's New?
The $50,000 USD (est.) The Catholic Cowboy Series race for three-year-old colt and filly trotters and pacers is a new stakes event offered in 2025. The series will be raced on Friday, Nov. 7 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park.
What's Moved?
The Dexter Cup and Lady Suffolk for three-year-old trotters have moved to The Meadowlands from Freehold Raceway and will be raced on Saturday, May 3 in divisions.
Breeders Crown At Woodbine Mohawk Park
The Breeders Crown will be celebrating its 42nd birthday at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Oct. 24 & 25. The Crown continues to attract robust participation from all segments of the industry and the guaranteed purses for 2025 reflect that:
- Friday, Oct. 24:
- All two-year-old races will have purses of $700,000 USD
- Saturday, Oct. 25
- All three-year-old races will have purses of $600,000 USD
- The Mare Trot & Pace will have purses guaranteed of $400,000 USD
- The Open Trot & Pace will have purses guaranteed of $600,000 USD
'Win And You're In' Races
A win in the Jim Doherty Memorial for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings or Peter Haughton Memorial for two-year-old trotting fillies gives you Breeders Crown options for those same divisions.
The winner of the 2025 Hoosier Cup for Indiana-sired three-year-old pacers at Harrah's Hoosier Park will receive an automatic nomination to the 2025 Jennas Beach Boy.

Stallion Restriction Condition
As a reminder, the Stallion Restriction Condition at The Meadowlands affects 2022 foals. Check The Meadowlands website for the full stallion restrictions applicable to the Cane Pace, Shady Daisy and Tompkins-Geers for three-year-olds, as well as the Reynolds for two-year-olds and three-year-old trotters, but not the three-year-old pacers at Plainridge Racecourse and not the two-year-old Tompkins-Geers at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Stakes Payment Schedule
The payment schedule dates are unchanged. Current racing conditions for the races serviced by the Hambletonian Society can be found on hambletonian.com under each specified race page or on ustrotting.com.
In all cases only one cheque is necessary for each of the four payment periods: Feb. 15, March 15, April 15, May 15 or Aug. 15 (yearling supplement). As always, make sure to double check that all eligibility payments are made from month to month. Some races have one payment while others have multiple payments due over multiple months. Missing one of those payments will make your horse ineligible at the date of entry.
