David Skaggs Passes

Horseman David A. Skaggs, 66, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away while at his home on January 31.

Skaggs was born June 4, 1947 in Ross County to Ulysses S. and Rosie H. Price Skaggs, the fourth of 12 children. After graduation, he worked for General Electric, Circleville, and after a tour of duty in the Air Force, which included the Vietnam War, he returned to G.E. and eventually retired from there in 2000.

Skaggs loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed many years of training and racing standardbreds at the Ross County Fairgrounds. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Nicole (Jimmy) Wills; son, David A. II; grandchild, Chloe Ann; the mother of his children, Cathy; sisters, Wanda M. Adams and Anna V. (Aaron) Overly; brothers, Donald E. (Esther), John A. (Diana), Charles R. (Rhonda), Rich (Pamela), Rodney (Kathy), Mark (Carrie) and Ulysses Jr. (Jana); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Esther J. Miller; brother, Harold Roger; and brothers-in-law, James Miller and Bernard Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 4) at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at Haller's.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favourite veteran's charity.
