Pennsylvania 'Foal Cams' Back For 2025

Published: February 28, 2025 03:46 pm EST

The Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association will offer a unique look into foaling season this March and April in partnership with Delaware Valley University in Doylestown. The coalition will provide a live look at three expectant mares through its livestream ‘foal cams’ as they get ready to give birth to the next generation of champion racehorses.

The PHRA will operate the foal cams from March 1 through April 7 free of charge to view on the association's website.

DelVal’s on-campus Sydney J. Markovitz Equine Breeding Center is home to the three expectant mares as well as other mares and stallions. The university’s Equine Science and Management students work with full-time faculty and a stable manager to receive hands-on experience in daily management of the facility. To support DelVal’s commitment to experiential learning, students are also able to actively assist with foaling and breeding procedures.

The streams will feature a live, uninterrupted look at the three Standardbred mares as they prepare for the arrival of their foals. Viewers will also experience day-to-day interactions between the mares and their caretakers. When the time is right, there will be an opportunity to witness the birth of the next generation of racehorses.

Information on the three mares is below:

  • Thistle Dhu – due March 19. In foal to Temporal Hanover.
  • To The Good Life – due March 31. In foal to Volume Eight.
  • Ocean Love Potion – due March 31. In foal to Green Manalishi S.

In addition to the livestream, the PHRA provides breeding basics, videos, interactive polls, and gender reveals. Live foaling season updates will be shared through the PHRA’s Facebook and Instagram channels.
