On Saturday, February 22 at the Meadowlands Racetrack, Anthony Altomonte of New Jersey reigned supreme in a qualifier for the World Harness Handicapping Championship.

Altomonte cashed on eight of his ten wagers, which allowed him to outdistance his closest competitor by $445. Altomonte is a contest veteran and has qualified for both the WHHC Finals and NHC finals via Meadowlands qualifiers. With the Saturday win, Altomonte has qualified for the 2020 WHHC Final at the Meadowlands on April 18.

William Meisel of Staten Island, NY, also qualified for the final with his second-place finish in Saturday’s contest.

The World Harness Handicapping Championship presented by DerbyWars.com is a one-day tournament (April 18, 2020). Players that did not earn a seat through a qualifying event can directly buy in for $1,300. The $1,300 entry fee includes a $300 bankroll, with the remaining $1,000 going to the prize pool. The $150,000 prize pool is based on an estimated 150 entries.

All WHHC details can be found here.
