It has been announced that Standardbred breeder/owner Frank J. Baldassare, 77, of Highland Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.
Baldassare was born in Jersey City, NJ and was a lifelong resident of northern New Jersey before moving to Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen; children, Frank (Kelly) and Alayne (Brian) Fahrman; granddaughters, Emily, Nola, and Erin; and siblings, Michael and Frances (Mughetto). He was preceded in death by his brother, Angelo; and sister, Betty (Vessillo).
Baldassare earned his Bachelor of Science from St. Peter’s College and then became a CPA. Before he retired, he worked as the VP Controller at USA Networks. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3962. He was a member of the board for the Goshen Historic Track as well as an active member in the U.S. Trotting Association. As a lifelong horseman, one of his highlights was being part owner of the Hambletonian winning horse Deweycheatumnhowe.
He was an avid golfer in the Haworth and Mansion Ridge Men’s golf leagues where he also planned multiple charity golf tournaments over the last few years.
His final resting place will be at Mary Rest Chapel Mausoleum in Mahwah, NJ.
