On Monday, February 24, the Ontario Racing Commission released its ruling in regard to an appeal by trainer Leslie Joyce.

Joyce’s appeal was in regard to Ruling Number SB 46106.

Joyce was the trainer of record for the standardbred racehorse Im The Man, who won the eighth race at The Raceway at Western Fair District on May 15, 2013. A urine sample taken from the horse after the race resulted in a certificate of positive analysis of an official sample for the Class II drug Levamisole.

On September 24, 2013, the track judges imposed, the following penalty: $2,500 fine; a one-year full suspension with five months stayed; upon reinstatement, two years of probation upon conditions.

After an appeal, the ORC ruled that Joyce be given a $1,500 fine, a one-year full suspension (one month has been served; 11 months are subject to a conditional stay), and two years of probation on conditional reinstatement.
