Pompano Park’s Late Closing Pacing Series for mares gets underway on February 13 with a total of 15 nominations for the four-race series which concludes with an $75,000 (est.) final on March 5.
Among the entrants are Velocity Vespa, Just A Bee, Godiva Seelster, Show Runner, Totally Rusty, Sensational Gabby A and Fancy Desire.
Velocity Vespa, trained by Chris Oakes for owner Susan Oakes, is on a roll with five consecutive victories—the last three in the top Open class for mares here.
A winner of $190,487, this six-year-old daughter of I Scoot Hanover sports a lifetime mark of 1:50.4 taken earlier this year at Pompano Park.
Just A Bee, a 15 race winner in 2015, has a 1:50.3 race record at Pompano and has earned $157,515 of her lifetime total of $278,731 since being claimed back in September of 2014 for $12,000.

Totally Rusty, also new to the Pompano Park scene, is a four-year-old daughter of Rustys For Real owned by the Let It Ride Stables along with Dana Parham.
Although lightly raced, Totally Rusty has a 14-2-1 scorecard in 24 career starts and $302,404 in bounty to go along with a three-year-old mark of 1:50.3.
Sensational Gabby A is, thus far, the richest performer of the nominees with $717,093 in earnings--$688,893 of that on foreign soil.
Owned by Allard Racing along with Yves Sarrazin and Kapildeo Singh, this eight-year-old daughter of Yankee Sensation is trained by Rene Allard and sports a 1:52.2 mark over the Yonkers Raceway half mile oval shortly after arriving in the United States last summer.
Fancy Desire, also from the Allard Stable, is a five-year-old daughter of Real Desire and owns a 1:49 mark at Pocono Downs. She has a bankroll of $463,810 thus far in her career measuring 55 starts.
