M. Dale Rennick Passes

Former Pennsylvania horseman M. Dale Rennick, 75, of Allegheny Township, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18 in the emergency room at Allegheny Valley Hospital

Rennick was born July 27, 1936, in North Buffalo Township, to the late Martin August and Ethel Claypoole Rennick. He has been a resident of Allegheny Township for 53 years, having previously resided in Brackenridge. Rennick worked as director of operations for McDonald's Corporation.

He was a USTA member and owned, trained and was a driver of standardbreds racing at The Meadows, campaigning many horses of his own, along with serving as trainer and farm manager for Mike Callipare Stables throughout the 1990s.

As a trainer, he had perhaps his greatest success with trotter Laurel Kipper, a horse that was claimed for $3,000 and eventually went on to become Claiming Trotter of the Year at The Meadows. He also had success with an older trotter named Robertson, whom he raced through age 14. After retiring as a trainer, Rennick assisted operations at Fox Run Equine Center in Apollo, Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, CJ Osborne Rennick; son, Dale (Helen) Rennick Jr., of Allgheny Township; daughters, Risa Scholle, of LaSalle, Ill., and Toni Lascek, of East Vandergrift; two granddaughters, Ashleigh Scholle and Hannah Rennick; three grandsons, Bud and Eli Suchetski and Alex Rosa; and a brother, Ray (Bertie) Rennick, of Natrona Heights.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m until the time of funeral service at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rusiewicz Of Lower Burrell Funeral Home, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street. The Rev. Harold Mele will officiate. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his name to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 533 Linden Ave., New Kensington, PA 15068.
