Former driver, trainer and paddock judge Roger Ponton of Pointe-aux-Trembles, Que. passed away on Feb. 1, 2023 at Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital at the age of 90.
Husband of the late Mrs. Anita Quirion. He is survived by his children, Sylvain (Angèle Dallaire), Marie-Josée (André Gosselin) and Nathalie (Daniel Gauvin); his grandchildren, Marc-Antoine, Frédérique (Samuel Duchesneau), Virginie (Orlando Velazquez), Caroline (Samuel Asselin Lefebvre) and Dominic.
He was the brother of the late Réal (late Françoise Desrosiers), late Jean-Paul (late Gisèle Dostie), late Lise (late Marcel Desrochers), Laurent (late Pauline Gervais), late Noëlla (late Jacques Fontaine), late René (Andrée Lemire), late Yvon (Monique Lanoie) and Nicole (Jean-Guy Léveillée). He was the brother-in-law of (Quirion family), Hélène, late Cécile (late Paul-Henri Maheux), Laurette (Noël Nadeau), Denise (Michel Rodrigue), late Denis and Gisèle (Michel Dion).
He also leaves to mourn many nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive condolences at Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, 6700 Beaubien East, Montreal, QC, on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The religious service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m., at St-Marcel Church (1630 boul. Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Montreal, QC). Burial will take place in the spring at the St-Enfant-Jésus cemetery in Pointe-aux-Trembles.
