The Meadowlands Racetrack will host a dozen dashes on Saturday night (February 18), and will feature a ‘cracker-jack’ field of 10 in Race 7, a condition/optional claiming pace for a purse of $15,000.
The group is an amalgamation of accomplished veterans with a number of variables to complicate the handicapping issue.
Trainer Dylan Davis will bookend the field with a pair of talented six-year-old pacers coupled as a pari-mutuel entry that has been installed as the morning line favourite. Brand new purchase Somesizesomestyle will start from the rail and recent Dover Downs Open winner Jet Airway will get underway from the far outside.
Alberto Contador N and Barimah A both move up a step after impressive wins last week; Dynamic Youth and The Rock ship over from Yonkers Raceway; and top stakes winner Rockeyed Optimist will make his first start since last September.
There are several more interesting races on the bill for punters’ wagering pleasure, and to help with the task the Meadowlands is offering free program pages for the $50K guaranteed Late Pick 4.
Saturday is also the night of the eagerly anticipated Whiskey Dinner in Pink with former NY Knick star Larry ‘Grandmama’ Johnson. There are four delicious courses, each paired with a delicate spirit to complement the food.
