Yonkers Raceway cancelled the last five races of Monday night’s scheduled 12-race card due to unsafe track conditions.
With temperatures right around the freezing mark, the races that were contested had a backdrop of a cold rain, which made the racing surface quite slippery.
There was a delay after the sixth race for track maintenance. However, after the seventh race had a breaker impeding several horses, the horsemen deemed the track “unplayable” and races 8 through 12 were scrapped.
Live racing is scheduled to resume Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 16), with a 'French-centric' trot-filled card and a first post of 1 p.m.
