Updated: More Sunday Cancellations

After consultation with industry partners, both Flamboro Downs and Rideau Carleton Raceway have cancelled Sunday's (February 15) scheduled cards of harness racing due to the extreme cold weather conditions predicted for the area.

Management at both Flamboro and Rideau apologize for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause.

Flamboro’s next scheduled day of harness racing is Thursday, February 19. First race post time is 6 p.m.

Rideau is scheduled to race again on Sunday, February 22.

Dover Downs has also cancelled its Sunday racing program due to extreme weather conditions. Abnormally high winds and Weather Bureau prediction of unusually low temperature readings have caused the postponement.

Racing is scheduled to resume at Dover on Monday, February 16 with first post at the usual time of 4:30 p.m.

Balmoral Park was forced to cancel the remainder of its Sunday program after just one race due to technical difficulties caused by the extreme cold that gripped the area.

With temperatures hovering in the single digits and wind chills well below zero, a series of technical difficulties with the track's television equipment and the ability to send its signal forced the cancellation of the regularly scheduled 10-race program. The first race was conducted with Muscular Yankee (#7) taking home the victory. Therefore, a consolation Daily Double using the #7 in race one with all the participants in race two will be considered winning tickets for Daily Double purposes.

The extreme cold and blizzard like conditions that have settled throughout the Midwest and East coast are expected to continue throughout the upcoming week but Balmoral and Maywood Park staff are committed to working feverishly to ensure that live racing will continue as scheduled on Thursday, February 19 at Maywood Park. First post will be 7:10 p.m. The new 20-cent Jackpot Pick 6 wager will have a carryover of $2,693 for Thursday night’s Maywood Park program.
