Final Hoosier Cup Sustaining Payment Due

The final sustaining payment for the 2010 $500,000-est. Hoosier Cup held at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino Saturday, May 29 is due Monday, February 15

. All payments for the event should be sent to the Hambletonian Society, Inc.

The 14th edition of the $500,000-est. Hoosier Cup will move into a new format beginning in 2010. Only one race will be conducted for the entire purse. The top 12 entrants ranked by purse earnings will be accepted into the race. No elimination heats will be conducted, doing away with the multiple race system that has been instituted in the past.

The final sustaining payment of $600 is due Monday, February 15 to determine the final nomination list for this year’s Hoosier Cup. Also, the deadline for a supplemental nomination fee of $4,000 for three-year-olds that have not previously paid fees into the Hoosier Cup is due Monday, February 15.

The Hoosier Cup is one of three major stakes on the 2010 schedule at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino. Other major stakes include the $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational Saturday, June 26 and Hoosier Champions Saturday, July 10, featuring Indiana Sires Stakes finals and purse money in excess of $1 million.

The 80-day Standardbred meet will offer live racing five days per week beginning Thursday, March 25. Racing will be conducted Wednesday through Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m. No live racing will be held Sunday, April 4 in observance of Easter. Two special holiday cards will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 31 for Memorial Day and Monday, July 5 for an Independence Celebration.
