The Meadowlands Racetrack will host programs of live harness racing on Thursday nights through the month of December, beginning with a nine-race presentation this week.
A solid overnight card has been programmed, which includes an intriguing mix of shippers, as nearly half of the horses on the bill will be making their first ‘Big M’ start – at least in a while.
Officials with the Meadowlands are expecting a lot of shippers in the coming weeks, as some tracks in the region have shut down for the winter and horsepeople are left with fewer racing options.
Thursday's Big M card will include a plethora of stock from Plainridge, which recently concluded its live meet.
The last three races on Thursday at the Meadowlands will comprise a ‘Race for the G-Notes’ short series for $7,500 claimers, which will provide the lower end with a chance to earn from the inflated final purse of $12,500 next week.
The horizontal wagers are in place. Be advised that the Pick 4 will be comprised of Races 6-9 and carry a $35,000 guaranteed pool for the Thursday card.
Thursday is Senior's Day, which will feature concession discounts for the Meadowlands’ ‘mature’ regulars. Players club points are doubled and the lead promotion "It's Your Lucky Day" will return one fortunate horseplayer the losing wagers from Friday's live card up to $1,000! Talk about lucky!
