Tattersalls Sales Co. reminds harness racing participants that supplemental entries are now being accepted for the company’s Winter Mixed Sale, to be held Monday, Jan. 17, at The Meadowlands.
Those wanting to supplement racehorses or breeding stock to the auction house’s flagship sale are asked to call 914-773-7777 or enter online at tattersallsredmile.com.
The sale catalogue and past performances are now available on the website and are also posted on the Equineline Sales Catalog app. The sale is an in-person event and will also be live streamed with real-time bidding available on proxibid.com.
With a full 37 per cent of the racehorses cataloged being stakes winners, the sale has shaped up to be one of exceptional quality, according to sale manager David Reid:
“Like with every mixed sale these days, you wish the sheer number of horses would be higher, but the overall quality is most definitely there. I expect there to be a huge demand for the horses we have cataloged.”
Big-name horses to go under the auctioneer’s hammer after the turn of the calendar include 2020 Little Brown Jug winner Captain Barbossa, who comes into the sale fresh off a 1:52.2 upper-level conditioned win at Yonkers on December 14.
Rising four-year-olds slated to sell feature Captain Barbossa’s Somebeachsomewhere three-quarter-brother, $550,000 winner Whichwaytothebeach; and Father Patrick’s Cantab Hall full brother Goodashim, who has a race time of 1:51.4 under his belt and also comes to the sale off a win at Yonkers. The multiple stakes-winning Muscle Hill six-year-old stallion Kings County, a force in the Meadowlands upper ranks, is also catalogued.
Breeding stock highlights include shares in Muscle Hill and Downbytheseaside and the young broodmare Mimis Lily, a three-quarter-sister to world champion and Hanover stallion Papi Rob Hanover, pregnant to Sweet Lou.
