Guy Pelletier Passes

Longtime Québec racing official Guy Pelletier passed Monday (Dec. 29) after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Pelletier, of Sherbrooke, Qué., spent over half a century helping to administer harness racing in Québec, and wore a diverse assortment of administrative and managerial hats throughout his storied career.

He left a career as an industrial engineer to become the race secretary at Sherbrooke Raceway in 1968, and later became the race secretary and general manager at both Hippodrome Trois-Rivières and Hippodrome Pré-Vert in Jonquière.

In 1987, he departed racetrack management to become a judge at various racetracks throughout Québec, and retired at the age of 82 after completing the 2019 season at Hippodrome 3R.

Pelletier is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nicole Doucet.
