He has cemented his place as the most dominant driver in the history of Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park, but the beat goes on for Marc Campbell.
The Winsloe driver broke his own all-time dash win record during last Saturday's program and he now has three cards left to pad his total.
The Charlottetown Driving Park will host a 16-dash program of live racing on Saturday (December 17). First-race post time will be at 12:30 p.m.
Campbell will sit behind the presumptive favourite in the program’s feature contest, which has been carded as Race 15. Eagle Jolt, who is owned by Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Orwell, has drawn Post 6 in the field of seven. Eagle Jolt has played the role of bridesmaid to the dominant duo of D Gs Camme and Drivingthedragon N in recent weeks. With those top pacers absent in this week's $2,100 event, Eagle Jolt will face off with Forever Paradise (to be driven by Corey MacPherson) from Post 7, along with Smiley Bayama, who will get a heaping pile of post relief, seeing as though he has drawn the rail for reinsman Adam Merner. Other entries include Woodmere Articblue (Ryan Desroche), Best Risque (Jason Hughes), IDK (Vincent Poulton) and Rash B Havior (Ken Murphy).
The top trotters currently racing on the east coast of Canada are set to square off in Race 4. Campbell is the early favourite with Freddie from Post 7. Freddie is owned by the Three Wisemen Stable of Cornwall. The $1,850 Open trot will again see Freddie face Holy Molie Maggie (the two have traded blows in recent weeks). Gary Chappell drives Holy Molie Maggie for trainer and co-owner Jeff Holmes of Orwell and co-owner Trevor MacDonald of Vernon Bridge.
The afternoon finale will see Jetta Flys ride a three-race win streak into the $1,600 race for driver MacPherson, who has been undefeated since teaming up the pacer, along with trainer and co-owner Stephen Quinn of Stratford and co-owner John Quinn of Charlottetown.
