Arlington ‘Arli’ McDonald Passes

Longtime Quinte Raceway horseman Arli McDonald passed away on Monday, December 12 at the age of 83.

Dear son of the late Ambrose and Viola McDonald (nee Hurst). Beloved husband of the late Marjorie McDonald (nee Hannah). Cherished father of Arlene McDonald of Warkworth, Jo-Anne (Paul) Craig of Belleville, Ted (Julie) of Ottawa and Daryl (Christa) of Belleville. Predeceased by son Kevin. Dear brother of Ambrose McDonald. Arli is predeceased by siblings; Celesta Morrison, Colleen Wright and Lloyd McDonald. Loving grandfather of seven grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Arli will be remembered by longtime friends Wally Bailey and George Howe. Horses like Charity Mc, Call Me Bill and Dan Brewer were part of his five decades in the harness racing industry. Arli’s passion for the sport will live on through his son, Ted, and grandson, James.

Funeral service will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Friday, December 16 at 12:00 noon, with visitation prior from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Rev. Fr. Brad Beale officiating. Cremation to follow.
